The Eames Elephant Plywood is something quite special. Designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1945, the original sadly never went into production. After an only limited edition run in 2007, Vitra have now re-launched this classic as part of their standard collection for the very first time.
As the name suggests Eames Elephant Plywood is made from high quality plywood with a beautiful American Cherry veneer. The cherry's warm colours vary from rich reds and reddish browns to creamy whites. Each piece is unique and will "age with grace" Use it to adorn any home with it's charming oversized ears and signature trunk.
The first Eames Elephant was originally designed as a toy by Charles and Ray Eames. One prototype was shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1946. It still survives in the Eames family archives today.
