The CH24 Wishbone Chair is perhaps Wegner's most celebrated work.
A light, attractive and comfortable dining chair with the characteristic Y-shaped back. The Wishbone Chair is perhaps Wegner's most celebrated work.
The chair is a triumph of craftsmanship with a simple design and clean lines. Despite the chair's straightforward appearance it takes more than 100 steps to make one. Amongst other things, the hand-woven seat consists of more than 120 meters of paper cord. The design was actually the last part of a series inspired by portraits of Danish merchants sitting in Chinese Ming Dynasty chairs.
Available in a variety of stunning solid woods with various finishes. See our product downloads for wood samples.
See video of the making of this chair here.
Quickship available on select finishes.
More about the designer - Hans J. Wegner a Danish architect is considered one of the most pioneering furniture designers of the twentieth century. He is known for various famous designs including the Wishbone, Shell Chair and Wing Chair. Wegner was a skilled cabinet maker and had a true affinity for working with wood, this is demonstrated in his perfectly executed joints, together with beautiful flowing shapes.
More about the manufacturer - Carl Hansen founded his company in 1908. Most of the furniture they produce today was designed by leading Danish architects back in the 1930s and up to the 1960s, but the design, the vision and the craftsmanship behind every piece of furniture is still as relevant today as it was then. If not even more so today. This is why their dedication to working with the best materials and the best designers has and will always be fundamental to Carl Hansen & Søn.
