The 43 Armchair was designed by the great Alvar Aalto in 1939. Featuring the classic sweeping curves from the wood bending process and the gentle bounce provided by the cantilever form. Available Natural or Black webbing upholstery.
Alvar Aalto (1898-1976), one of the founders of Artek, was born in Kuortane, Finland. He is recognized today as one of the great masters of modern architecture. Aalto began designing furnishings as a natural and important extension of his architectural thinking. His first modern piece of furniture was created in 1931-32.
Artek’s collection is based on the original idea of standards and systems, initiated by Alvar Aalto’s bent wood experiments.
