Elio Martinelli

Elio Martinelli was born in 1921 and went on to study set design at the Institute of Fine Arts in Florence. He later began to focus on interior design and shop fitting, it was here that he started to design his own lighting systems to complete his commercial projects.
Elio founded Martinelli Luce in 1950 and specialised in selling electrical materials for installers.
Thanks to his spirit of innovation, Martinelli started to create a wide portfolio of lamps for interiors, with a greater and greater attention for their use at home. 
His creativity allowed him to design and to manufacture lighting systems with a strongly innovative design from a form and technological view.
Elio Martinelli was inspired by nature and geometry and created functional lighting systems manufactured with materials used depending on their characteristics.
