Shiro Kuramata
Shiro Kuramata founded the Kuramata Design Office in Tokyo, in 1991. In his lifetime, Kuramata designed some of the most significant items ever produced. Besides his connection with the Japanese design world, Kuramata’s significance in western design was shown first with Memphis, than in 1987 with Cappellini where he helped to introduce the brand on international stage. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, New York MoMA, Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in Toyama.
