This low slung CH25 lounge chair features a solid oak frame and a skilfully woven paper cord seat and back.
Designed in 1950 by Hans J. Wegner. It was actually one of the first four chairs he designed especially for Carl Hansen & Søn. The CH25 Lounge Chair has remained hugely popular and has been continuous production ever since.
The chair certainly turned heads when it was first released, with it's ambitious frame design and Wegner's choice of woven paper cord for the seat and back was unheard of at the time. Paper cord was actually a substitution material used to replace more precious materials during the war. It takes a skilled craftsman 10 hours to hand weave the seat and back of this chair, using approx. 400 meters of paper cord. The paper cord is available in natural or black.
The chair features wide armrests with soft rounded edges, and the woven seat provides a gentle spring providing a truly comfortable seating experience. It also goes very well with the CH008 Coffee Table.
